I'm still using G2 for my hydration, though next weekend I'll be packing a water bottle too. After 6 miles the sweat on my lips started making me crave straight water. Salt over-dose! I also GU'd at 2mi, that still seems to work great for me.
My wall is still set at 5 miles, then at about 6.5 I seem to find a second wind. I noticed my form actually improving during my last mile today. I kept telling myself: 'easy, breezy, strong'. Don't know where that came from, but it helped me hold my upper body straighter and keep my feet turning over. I felt like a champ that last mile.

Next weekend: 5k on Saturday followed by 9mi on Sunday. (I know, shouldn't race the day before a long run, but I was seriously craving a 5k! And it's to benefit the local animal shelter....my calling!)

Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah ... congrats on your 8 miler ... be very proud of yourself!!
ReplyDelete8 in the bag, and now 9 will be no big deal! Way to go!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to rock it. I've been working on the right G2 to water ratio for long runs too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on 8 miles!
ReplyDeleteLook at that, girl! Remember when you first started running? Now look at that! 8 Miles!! That is fabulous! You are going to rock the Wine and Dine!!! :0)
ReplyDeleteCongrats thats such an awesome distance! I remember my first 8 miler and I almost cried! Then again I cry a lot while running so that's not saying much. You should probably "gu" at least every hour while doing long runs, that's a big reason my leg muscles start to feel depleted, when I forget to replenish nourishment. You're getting up there, you need more food! :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great long run, and extra credit for finishing strong!
ReplyDeleteFantastic run! I did my first 9 today and used 1/2 G2 to 1/2 water in my hydration pack. It worked really well. I did galloway too, today - 2 minutes run to 1 minute walk. It really allows you to get your run in and not be totally zonked!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first 8!!!
ReplyDelete8 miles is awesome! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWay to rock your 8 miler!
ReplyDeletegreat job! I love your running song archive!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your 8, girlie! :) Muscle fatigue and glycogen stores: might try switching to G Sport and mixing with water. Will give you a bit more sugar for energy. I figured out I had to do this once I got past the 7-mile mark...usually about 50/50.

P.S. ~ Pets and shelters... me, too! :)
