I ran the first 2 miles with my husband's cousin who is also a beginner runner. She kept a pace of about 13min/mile and I loved running along with her and motivating her. At mile 2 I went on by myself and my last two miles came in about 11:50/mile! I did a lot more running than I had thought I'd be able to, and I felt great. I don't know if it was my nutrition that morning, the adrenaline of the race, or what...but I was jogging along like it was my job. (Where does that saying come from?? lol) There was a very nice man out in his yard with his hose spraying over the road for us to run through....wow that felt great!! The last quarter mile of the race they gave us flags to carry across the finish line...very patriotic.

On another note - I've been a terrible bloggy friend and haven't been reading/commenting as much as I want to. We have a vacay coming up and I've been doing a lot of preparing at home & work to get ahead before we leave for an extended weekend. I promise to be better upon my return. :) What can I say...vacation is hard work!!
Hope everyone had a happy & safe 4th!
Favorite Running Song of the Week: 'Give Up The Funk', Glee version. This song came on my ipod during my 2 mile run earlier in the week and was so much fun!

Congratulations, you did an awesome job :). I love the flags at the end too, I bet that made for cute pictures when people crossed the finish line :).
