Get off the couch and RUN

First off, some business to take care of: Sorry I was MIA for Friday's post!!! :( I feel so bad to let my bloggy friends down. Won't happen again. *Sticking out wrist for slap* A little moment to let off steam: It's been a sh*t week at work, I've felt miserable, and I hadn't ran since Monday...so there really wasn't much to tell you anyways other than I hated life at the moment.

Ok, back to normal. (Or as close as I'll ever get) As mentioned above, I skipped 2 runs this week, the first because my knee was still in pain from the 5K and the second because I felt a cold coming on and just got plain lazy. So Saturday rolls around and I'm pretty much miserable. (Did you know NOT running makes you a miserable person??) I come home from work exhausted from staying up the night before to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies (how about that torch lighting?? OMG! Olympic Fail!). Should I nap? Should I run? Ugh. I lay down on the couch for a few minutes, set my cell alarm for 1 hour and try to sleep. But instead I toss & turn, thinking only about the fact that daylight is wasting and I should be running.

Finally, after realizing I'm not going to catch up on any Z's I sit up and look outside, crud! Sunset! Two minutes later I'm in my running gear and out the door headed to the park. (Btw, have you ever noticed how much better you feel the minute your running shoes are on??) I get to the park, only person on the trail...creeepy. Whatever, I can out-run anyone that tries anything. Not wanting to lose another second of sunlight I get out there and start my run. I was a little nervous that losing 2 training days would make me a weakling and set me back. But I was wrong, the rest days must have helped and I felt great.

I did a quick interval set (warm up, run 90s, walk 90s, run 3min, walk 3min, repeat, cool down) and got back to my car just as it got too dark for comfort. Two miles done on a day I wasn't even sure I was going to run at all. Yay me. :)

After my run (listen, I know I'm still a beginner and working my way up to a continuous run, but in my mind it's still called a 'run', not a 'walk/run', so thhbppp :P) I headed to the drug store (helllloooo late Valentines Day shoppers!) to pick up a card for my husband (oh yeah, I'm on of those late shoppers lol). As I get out of the car I notice something strange, everyone is bundled up in coats, gloves, and hats! Here I am in my running shorts and a long-sleeve tech-tee, oops. Must have forgotten it was 40 degrees out today. Aren't runners crazy?! I got a few strange stares in the store for being so 'under-dressed'. I just returned the stares thinking 'Aren't you a little under-exercised?'.

I <3 Running
